Northern Bay families feature in Eat Well Live Well initiative (Part 2)

Northern Bay families and local community members feature in videos produced as part of the City of Greater Geelong’s Eat Well Live Well initiative.

Earlier this year, City of Greater Geelong, Healthy Communities team partnered with Our Place Northern Bay, Best Start, City of Greater Geelong (COGG) Family Services and Wathaurong to support families from the Northern Bay Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community to take part in the Eat Well Live Well initiative.

This initiative produced videos that showcased families cooking a traditional meal. The plan was also to turn each recipe into a free downloadable recipe card so that other families and members of the public could recreate the meals at home.

Aligning with the Our Place Approach

Working alongside and supporting partners initiatives and supporting families to access opportunities is all a part of what Our Place refers to as the playing the role of ‘The Glue’ on site.

Our Place’s role in engaging the community through participation in activities contributes to creating a sense of belonging and pride for children and families. This is another reason we work toward identifying, creating, and providing linkages to opportunities for families to be involved, join a team, volunteer, and contribute.
