Talking to the Our Place Community Facilitator gave me confidence, to have someone who not only listened to me, but believed that I could do it and secure a job. Our Place could support me when I didn’t have anyone else to rely on, made an incredible difference. SUNARI SOORIAARATCHI, PARENT, ALDERCOURT PRIMARY SCHOOL.

Site Priorities

1. Address developmental gaps and improve school attendance

  • Increase participating in oral language programs.
  • Strengthen relationships between kinder and school educators.
  • Increase in children completing their MCH visits.
  • Reduce the number of children arriving at Prep requiring new referrals to services.
  • Increase in children attending a full school day every day.

2. Empower parents to support their child's education and development.

  • Engage new parents in initial conversations and activities supporting early learning.
  • Encourage parents to engage in early developmental programs by the time their children start school.
  • Establish a network of parent champions who share knowledge, connect others to services and co-design engagement activities.

3. Develop a place-based approach to care and data-sharing.

  • Families receive timely and appropriate NDIS support.
  • Reduce time and effort required to gather relevant information about families and children.
  • Ensure families and service providers have timely access to relevant information when assistance is needed.
  • Reduce the number of children arriving at Prep requiring new referrals, due to earlier identification and support.
